UGG Fluff Sugar Platform Sandals Review

If you love UGG but want vegan and/or eco-friendly footwear, take note. This month UGG released a new collection of footwear made with plant-based, carbon-neutral materials called "Plant Power." The collection includes three fashion-forward styles: the Fluff Sugar Sandal, the Fluff Sugar Platform, and the Neumel Natural boots. As a fan of the popular UGG Fluffita and Fluff Yeah platforms, the Fluff Sugar Platforms instantly appealed to me. They're designed with low impact materials, and even the packaging is eco-friendly. The sole of these platforms is made of SugarSole™ foam which consists of renewable sugarcane (hence the name Fluff Sugar). They come in three cotton candy-esque colors for spring: white, yellow, and pink. I have a pair in pink and will be sharing details on the new UGG Fluff Sugar Platforms in this review. Keep reading for tips on fit, sizing, and quality.

Restock alert! As of June 17, 2021 UGG has restocked the Fluff Sugar sandals with three new colorways: black, dragon fruit (deep pink), and burnt olive.

UGG Fluff Sugar box

Everything about the UGG Fluff Sugar shoes from production to packaging and shipping is intended to reduce its environmental impact. First off, the shoes ship in their own box to decrease packaging and waste. The box is different from other UGG boxes in the way it closes and is sealed (with two flaps on top). The paper inside is printed with educational messaging about the "from plant to plush" process. Even the size tag inside the shoe is made from different materials than other UGG products. The lining and upper of the shoes are made from TENCEL™ Lyocell sourced from responsibly-harvested trees. They feel just as soft and fluffy as the best selling UGG Scuffette slippers and the plush UGG Fluff Yeah slippers. This is a shoe you can feel good about.

Fit and Sizing

The Fluff Sugar Platforms run true to size. I went with my true size 7 and the elastic strap fits just right when I wear them with and without socks. These only come in whole sizes, and I recommend taking your true size. As you wear them, the Tencel™ lyocell lining will flatten out a bit. I occasionally brush the footbed with a dedicated hair brush (for my shoes) to keep it fluffy.

Quality and Comfort

These platforms are super lightweight, have nice cushioning, have slightly bouncy SugarSole™ soles (that feel like your lightest running sneakers), and feel great on the foot. The heel height is 3", and I find them easy and stable to walk in. The elastic strap holds your foot firmly in place. They have one strap across the vamp which has cutouts on each side, creating a thick capital "I" shape over the foot. (The Fluff Sugar Slide sandals are similar, but they have two straps and a lower heel 2" height.) They have a luxurious hand feel, and like the Fluff Yeah slippers, they are super easy to slide on. The Fluff Sugar Platforms are $120, while the Fluff Sugar sandals are $110. I went with the platforms for the extra height.

Style

I love the shaggy, exaggerated appearance for my WFH looks, and I'm currently eyeing these in white. They have a fun, edgy look that brings some fun and whimsy to my casual wardrobe.

UGG Clem Sandals Review

Spring is almost here and that means sandal season. This year, I'm stocking up on platform sandals and slides. They're easy to slip on and off for my WFH style, and the extra height without the discomfort is always appreciated. Favorite footwear brand UGG recently released a new sandal for spring 2021 called the Clem sandal. While you may know and adore UGG for their cozy sheepskin boots and slippers, they've quietly cornered the sandal market as well. Their new Clem sandal is a rugged platform slide (retail price $110) with adjustable straps and all the comfort you've come to expect from UGG. It comes in black leather, olive suede, and rose quartz suede, all of which are selling out very quickly. Keep reading for my UGG Clem review with tips on fit and sizing.

In my quest to replace my Birkenstocks as my go-to spring and summer sandals of choice, I opted for the rose quartz Clem sandals in my usual UGG size 7. The soft pink color and tan outsole are nice neutrals which pair well with muted pastels, ditsy florals, soft grey shades, and summer whites.

Fit and Sizing

The Clem sandals come in half sizes. In my experience, they run true to size in terms of length and width. The straps have some adjustability, so you can customize the width a little bit. I plan on wearing mine barefoot, and the fit on my size 7 pair is great. If your feet are narrow, then I'd advise sizing down a half size. If you plan on wearing them with thick socks, I'd go up a half size. Otherwise, take your true shoe size.

Quality and Comfort

Dual density EVA foam lends the Clem sandal comfort and long-term wearability. They look heavy, but they are actually lightweight and easy to walk in. The EVA outsole has nice traction for wearing indoors or outdoors. The platform is about 2.5", so they give you height and comfort at the same time. I wore them barefoot for a few hours at home and did not get any blisters. They are comfortable right out of the box; I'm happy to report that they don't need any breaking in.

The straps are suede, while the lining is textile. The footbed is smooth and comfortable, but I haven't worn these on a hot day, so I don't know how they'll perform with potentially sweaty feet. If UGG releases more colors, I may get another pair since these are so versatile.

The pale pink color is exactly what I wanted for pairing with cargo pants, midi dresses, bike shorts, cropped straight leg denim, and joggers. The UGG logo is printed on one strap, but it's only visible up close. I look forward to seeing if UGG releases more colors and prints for summer.

UGG Fluffita Review

When UGG came out with their platform Fluffita slippers last fall, I bought a pair in white without hesitation. Having worn their popular UGG Fluff Yeah slippers, I was drawn to the UGG Fluffita for its similar platform and fluffy construction. The lack of elastic strap on the Fluffita is a bonus for me, as I prefer something I can quickly slip my foot in and out of throughout the day. When I bought my Fluffita slides, there weren't many online reviews, so I went with my true size 7. After wearing them for a few months and buying more pairs, I'm sharing my thoughts on sizing and quality for the UGG Fluffita in this review.

June 25, 2021 update - I got a pair of panther print Fluffitas in the butterscotch colorway. These are selling quickly, and are just the print I've been waiting for. The price has increased on this style to $120, but they are worth it. Take your true size on these. The sheepskin is not as curly, like on the solid colorways, so these are more plush and smooth in texture.

Fit and Sizing

The UGG Fluffita runs true to size in terms of width. These do not come in half sizes. I bought my regular size 7, and they fit well when I wear them with socks. The ribbon across the toe box allows for minimal adjustability, and is mostly decorative. When tightened all the way, the strap hangs off the side, so I tuck mine into the buckle avoid dragging on the floor and getting dirty. If your feet are narrow and you're going to wear them without socks, then I'd go down one size. If your feet are medium or wide, then your regular size is recommended. Since there is no heel strap to anchor the back of your foot in place, you want a secure fit. Texture notes: I noticed that the white colorways tend to have a thicker, more plush texture on the insole and lining than other colorways such as June Gloom or black. I'm not sure why, but the black ones seem to have a smoother (flatter) lining and insole than other colorways.

Quality and Comfort

The uppers, lining, and insole of the UGG Fuffita are made of plush curly sheepskin. These are sturdy, comfortable shoes with a soft feel on the foot. They are not heavy or clunky like they may appear. As a result, they are easy to walk in, and the 1.75" platform gives a little boost of height that I can appreciate. The outsole is embellished with the UGG logo on repeat, and the ribbon vamp strap is also decorated with the UGG logo. The signature Treadlite sole gives them versatility and traction for wearing both indoors and outdoors. They can transition easily from being winter slippers to spring sandals. When worn with socks, my Fluffita slides keep my feet nice and warm on winter nights. I've been wearing mine on repeat since November. I occasionally clean them (since the white ones show dirt) and brush the insoles to keep them fluffy.

Above, I'm wearing Wild Fable joggers and tie dye socks with my white Fluffitas.

At $100, the UGG Fluffita is a good value, since it's well made, durable, and comfortable. I look forward to putting mine on when I get up each morning. I hope UGG comes out with some leopard print colorways, as well as more pastel shades for spring/summer.
