After a night of limited sleep, I went to Target to shop the vineyard vines for Target collection and write this shopping review. This location I visited did not stock many items, and when I arrived at 7:45 am, the only humans visible were Target employees. I chose this store because I knew it would not be crowded or competitive. I'm on the West Coast, where vineyard vines is not as popular as the East Coast. My geographic area is more of a Patagonia meets Lululemon consumer, hence the lack of frenzy. As the Target doors opened, there were a handful of calm women at the entry ready to shop. Here's what the store looked like as I approached the merchandise. Whaley, cute, especially the childrenswear that shoppers in my store largely ignored.
Every day should feel this good, right? Well, it depends on how your shopping experience went.
In the Fitting Room:
These are the only two Women's dresses my store stocked. The ruffle V-neck dress pleasantly surprised me with its flattering fit, cotton fabric, easy side zip, and pockets. The fabric is like seersucker and it's partially lined. I'm wearing my true Target size, a small, and it's ever so slightly loose under the arms. It's a good buy at $35.
The striped knit crewneck dress is also a size small, but was too shapeless for me taste. The pockets fall right at my hip, which is unflattering. It was really comfortable, a medium weight, and made of a cotton blend. I'd size down for a body con fit or take your regular Target size for an easy, loose fit.
Pros:
The tote and duffel bags were heavy duty and quite large.
The Women's V-neck ruffle dress is quite flattering and looks more expensive than it is.
The childrenswear has really adorable prints and colors.
Dresses are made of cotton and looked well made.
Sizing was inconsistent across product categories. This graphic tee runs big.
Cons:
Items sold out online within minutes. Less than five minutes, to be more exact. Those Women's striped pants? Gone, before you could say "every day should feel this good."
Target needs to place stricter quantity limits online.
Store selection varies by location. My location was very limited.
The striped sleeveless dress did not work for me because the pockets are bulky and the length was unflattering.
The polo shirts didn't look as nice or structured as I was hoping.
I would have liked more clothing and footwear (and fewer home goods) in this collection.
Single use products such as napkins and plates seem tone deaf to eco-conscious consumers and to the planet.
No plus-sized apparel in stores. (Target, you're really missing the mark here.)
Shopping Tips and Alternatives
If you joined me on Twitter to shop the #vineyardvinesfortarget collection, I hope you scored all your must-haves. On the other hand, if you weren't able to get your favorites, I'm sharing alternative shopping methods and similar items to help you get ready for a fun and stylish summer.
1. Search the go-back racks. Many of the apparel items that disappeared during the launch may have been rejected once they were tried on, so check stores frequently and diligently in the coming days. Keep an eye in all departments, as merchandise sometimes go back to random areas. Ask the fitting room attendant or another Target team member for help. Persistence is key here.
2. Expect to see returns. The return policy for this collection is 14 days, and REDcard holders get an additional 30 days (for a total of 44 days). It's wise to check for returns a few days after the launch, once online orders have been received and shoppers return unwanted items to their local stores. Inquiring at the customer service desk or calling them to check on vineyard vines returns can't hurt either.
3. Check online. Naturally, there are lots of vineyard vines for Target items available on eBay, Poshmark, and other reseller apps, as long as you don't mind paying more (which I know, defeats the purpose of these collaborations). Not the best strategy, but there's no shortage of vineyard vines for target inventory on eBay right now. As of this writing, there are 2,532 #vineyardvinesfortarget items for sale on eBay, and this number will likely grow quickly the week of the launch.
May 20, 2019 update - There are now over 13,500 items for sale on eBay.
4. Opt for the real deal. You know you're getting top quality from a brand you love. Shop vineyard vines on sale right here.

5. Stay updated. Target does not restock these limited collaborations. Visit local stores often for returns. I'll post updates on Twitter and on this post the week of the launch, so bookmark this page. Reach out with any questions or requests, as I shop at Target more than I'll admit. I'm @thekeytochic.
6. Stay social. Use #vineyardvinesfortarget to connect with other shoppers on social media and resale apps for trades, Facebook groups, and personal shopping requests.
